So, we all know cannabis is a flower, right?

One of the primary functions of flowers is to create terpenes, these natural chemicals are designed to give off a potent odor to attract pollinators and ward off predators. These pungent compounds can be the best and worst parts of enjoying cannabis. The rich smell of fresh, sticky weed can be as intoxicating as the perfume of a long-lost lover. But when you are done indulging, unfortunately, weed smell can also be a dead giveaway that alerts others to your preferably private ritual. And while cannabis may be consumed for medicinal and adult-use purposes throughout the country, prohibition at the federal level continues to govern public perception. If you want to be mindful of your neighbors or simply want your cannabis habits to stay off the radar, respect and privacy can be preserved with a few handy tricks to mask the smell of cannabis on your person or inside your home!

Ozium

With Batman level preparation time and resources, this is what I would consider your most classic option for any cannabis enthusiast. This air freshener has notes of vanilla and lemon. But, let me tell you, I feel like a spray of Ozium opens a portal to another dimension, grabs the cannabis smoke, and takes it there. If the area you are enjoying cannabis in is not well ventilated, I recommend spraying it once you are done with your session. It’s pretty potent.

Sai Baba, Satya, Nag Champa, Agarbatti incense

Never heard of these? Neither had I, until I stumbled upon them myself. I recommend Nag Champa, which contains sandalwood, vanilla, and honey. That’s quite a pleasant aroma! It is actually wonderful to burn during a yoga or meditation session as well.

Patchouli Oil

Made from the small pink and white flowers of the patchouli plant, this aromatic oil is well known as a hippy trademark! Smoke a doobie, Dab some ol’ patchouli oil behind the ears to smell nice, and make some love, not war.

Febreze

Did you think it was spelled “Febreeze”? Me too! Blame the Nelson Mandela effect. But this common household staple is a go to for getting rid of the cannabis smell. To get fresh scent in a pitch, it is a great option. Remember that the smoke can travel and lay on your furniture! So, to protect your nice things, spray them with some Febreze love too.

Black Ice Little Trees Car Freshener

I think if you asked any individual who smoked in their car, they used these at least once in their lifetime. What an overwhelming scent, but when you are trying to get rid of other odors – that’s exactly what you want.

Burnt Popcorn

Ah, the days you would sacrifice food to the fire gods to keep your cannabis habits on the DL. So nostalgic. I have burnt popcorn many a time (by accident) and it is always a chore to rid of all the smoke and get the fire alarm to shut up! In my experience, few smells mask other odors better and linger in the air longer than an accidentally burnt bag of microwavable popcorn. But beware the delicate balance, because there is a difference between burnt for effect and burning the hell out of it.
